The government had just announced a review into National Parks and AONBs in England. The review’s purpose will be to make recommendations for strengthening their existing protection and consider extending or creating more designated landscapes. Julian Glover, Associate Editor at the London Evening Standard with a special interest in National Parks, has been asked to lead the review and deliver his recommendations next year. He will be supported by an advisory panel of experts who have not yet been named. The ES, as a champion of the National Park designation, welcomes the review as an opportunity to further the importance of these lived-in working landscapes, of great value to the nation.
