Take action to protect and conserve the Exmoor National Park:

Conditions of Entry

The Pinnacle Award was set up by the Exmoor Society in 2011 to provide a financial award to young people with their own business or business idea on Exmoor. Its purpose is to enable the young to continue to live and work in the Greater Exmoor area and to provide support for projects that support the Exmoor Society’s aims to conserve and promote Exmoor.

Eligibility

Candidates must either live, work or study in the Exmoor or Greater Exmoor area and be aged between 18 and 35 as of midnight 1 June of the application year. There is no requirement for academic qualifications, but applicants must be able to demonstrate their enthusiasm and vision for their project or idea and be able to explain it briefly in writing and verbally to the judges in a friendly and informal setting.

The Application

Applications can be made either by individuals or groups. If applying as a group, one person must be nominated as group leader, and will be the person whom The Exmoor Society will correspond with during the application process. All members of the group must be named and must comply with the eligibility requirements stated above. Applicants need to provide a reference from an independent professional person in support of their application. A form is provided for the purpose and should be submitted in confidence to the Society.

Timetable

Application forms must be received by midnight on 31st August 2025 of the application year. Short-listing and interviews at The Exmoor Society offices in Dulverton will take place shortly after. The winner/s will be announced at the Society’s AGM and invited to give a short presentation. The AGM is usually held in October.

Payment of the Award

Up to £5,000 is available to be allocated at the discretion of the judges. Payment will be made as agreed with the award recipients.

Publicity and Support

The Exmoor Society will publicise the results of the award in the media and in the Exmoor Review and will require a high-resolution image of the successful candidate for this purpose. Any recipients of the Award should use the Exmoor Society logo and the text “supported by the Pinnacle Award from the Exmoor Society” on their publicity/marketing material for one year from receipt of the grant and support the Society’s work where possible.
