We are delighted to welcome Matthew Oates to the Big Nature Day. His talk is a personal, radical and forward-looking take on our relationship with butterflies and associated conservation efforts.
Meet Matthew
Matthew is a nature writer specialising in butterflies. He writes regularly for Nature Notebook in The Times and is the author of In Pursuit of Butterflies, His Imperial Majesty, a natural history of the Purple Emperor and Beyond Spring. He was a specialist ecologist for the National Trust for almost 30 years, and was closely involved with conservation work on the Heath and High Brown Fritillaries on Exmoor. He grew up in West Somerset.
