Join us as we officially launch the new book “A Life Outside: Hope Bourne on Exmoor’ at this year’s Dulverton Literary Festival.
‘A Life Outside’ is the first biography of nature writer and artist Hope Bourne. Sympathetic, critical and honest, it draws on detailed original research from The Exmoor Society’s archive and interviews with people who knew her well. Beautifully written by Sara Hudston with a forward by Charles Foster, the book also includes some of Hope’s original pencil drawings and a selection of extracts from her local newspaper column, never before republished. Among the best of Bourne’s writing, these short pieces reveal her daily life on Exmoor and her exceptional connection to nature.
During the launch, Sara Hudston will be in conversation with Charles Foster to explore more about Hope, and what today’s generation can learn from her. Following the talk, drinks will be served alongside a book signing.
