This groundbreaking film explores the delicate balance between river restoration and the conservation of migratory fish populations. Find out more information and book your place here.
Writing Workshops
We are delighted to be hosting two fantastic nature writing workshops on the day with author Sara Hudston and local poet Graeme Ryan. Find out more and book your space below:
Nature Writing Workshop Inspired By Hope Bourne
The session is led by Sara Hudston (left), whose book A Life Outside: Hope Bourne on Exmoor is being published by The Exmoor Society in November this year. Hope Bourne (1918-2010) was one of the most outstanding nature writers of the 20th century. Living in a series of ramshackle cottages and off-grid caravans on Exmoor, her words and artworks chronicle the area’s landscape, wildlife and customs. In this 90-minute workshop, we’ll be exploring ways of looking at the living world inspired by Bourne’s extraordinary perspective. Find out more information and book your place here.
Seeing with the Heart: Poetry and Creative Writing Workshop
We are delighted that experienced poet, Graeme Ryan, will be running this poetry workshop as part of our Big Nature Day celebrations. This friendly, inclusive workshop is suitable for both those new to creative writing and more experienced writers. In the beautiful setting of Nettlecombe, we will explore many ways to capture in words our connections to the natural world. Find out more information and book your place here.
Guided Nature Walks
We’ll have four nature walks running on the day. Huge thanks to Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Butterfly Conservation, and FSC Nettlecombe for running these with us. Suitable for the whole family, you’ll be able to sign up for these walks on the day.
Family Activities
There will be a whole host of family activities available on the day, organised by local artists, organisations and wildlife charities. Each activity will be ready to spark curiosity and inspire a deeper love of nature. Below are just a few highlights that will be in store…
