The Exmoor Society received a detailed response from the Two Moors Project regarding the planned release of pine martens onto Exmoor later this year.
Back in March, we sent a letter raising the concerns of local stakeholders—including farmers, foresters, and gamekeepers—about the potential impacts of pine martens on forestry, vulnerable species, bovine TB management, and the cost of protecting poultry and pheasants.
Devon Wildlife Trust’s response, which addresses these points, is available via the link below. They have also provided contact details for their field officer should anyone wish to arrange a site visit.
The Exmoor Society will attend the next Pine Marten Group meeting in June to seek updates and follow up on any unresolved concerns. In the meantime, please email us at info@exmoorsociety.com if you feel any issues remain unaddressed.
