Pinnacle Award Winners 2026

We are delighted to announce that Jennifer Langdon and William Land have been named joint winners of the Pinnacle Award this year.

We are delighted to announce the winners of the 2026 Pinnacle Youth Award. Congratulations to Jennifer Langdon and William Land, who have been named joint winners following a record number of entries for this year’s award.

Jennifer’s and William’s businesses could not be more different, reflecting the versatility, ambition and commitment of young people building their futures here on Exmoor.

Jennifer is developing an HR consultancy that provides support to small and medium-sized businesses across Exmoor and West Somerset.

The judges were impressed by Jennifer’s drive and enthusiasm, as well as the practical need her business addresses. Exmoor is home to many small businesses, sole traders and self-employed professionals, including farmers, builders and tradespeople. While such enterprises may not require, or be able to afford, a full-time HR department, they still face the same employment legislation and responsibilities as much larger organisations.

Jennifer’s business fills an important gap in the market and demonstrates how young entrepreneurs can successfully identify local needs and build sustainable businesses around them.

The judges were equally impressed by William Land, whose application centred on his sheep-shearing business. Sheep farming and shearing are an integral part of Exmoor’s agricultural heritage, and professional shearing remains essential for good animal welfare and flock management.

William’s enthusiasm for exploring new uses for wool, alongside his commitment to growing his business, particularly stood out to the judging panel. His enterprise also has the potential to create employment opportunities for other young people in the area.

Although their businesses operate in very different sectors, Jennifer and William both demonstrate how young people can build successful careers that also meet the needs of the wider Exmoor community.

Now in its 14th year, the Pinnacle Youth Award recognises the challenges faced by young people seeking to live and work on Exmoor. Through grant funding, the award provides financial support to those starting a business or looking to grow an existing enterprise.

The Pinnacle Award is presented annually. If you know someone aged 35 or under who is starting a business on Exmoor, or looking for support to develop an existing one, look out for next year’s award, which will be launched in the spring.
