The Exmoor Society has had some extraordinary successes since it was founded in 1958
We work continuously to protect Exmoor’s unique landscapes, wildlife and heritage. From campaigning and research, to events, awards and outreach. We support local livelihoods and new businesses with our Pinnacle Award for young entrepreneurs, preserve Exmoor’s history through our archive, and provide opportunities for people to explore, better understand, and care for the National Park.
Our aim is to care for the scenic beauty, rich wildlife and historic heritage of Exmoor. Ensure Exmoor’s landscapes are passed on to future generations in as good or better condition than they are now;
Encourage people to appreciate our National Park – everyone has a right to enjoy Exmoor’s magnificent landscapes

In the news
2025 was a very successful year for the archive, with exhibition collaborations, important donations and archive walks. We now look forward to building on these achievements in 2026 and so here are some of our plans and aspirations for the coming year.
We’re delighted to announce the return of The Exmoor Society Big Nature Day, a joyful celebration of everything that makes Exmoor so special.
A new monthly feature for 2026, we'll be shining a spotlight on one of our wonderful volunteers, staff members, or trustees who help protect and promote Exmoor National Park. First up this month is our office manager, Gill Whitehead.
